The Toyota Hilux is currently available in three variants: the Hilux Double Cab with four-wheel drive, with six seats and four doors, the Hilux Xtra Cab, a five-seater with two seats, and the Single Cab with only three places. All versions have the same engine that can take the Hilux to top speed.
With Power OptionsÂ
In the United States Hilux is marketed under the name Tundra and Tacoma and is also offered with additionally potent power options.  The Double Cab and the Xtra Cab model are supplied in the Sol equipment line, which is part of the air-conditioning series and chromed external elements. Because of its large loading area, the Hilux is a commercial vehicle appreciated especially by craftsmen, farmers, welfare organizations and military forces. Hilux is equipped with the Drive Mode Switch which allows the driver to choose between the ECO guide and POWER: the ECO mode reduces the response speed of the system but improves fuel consumption, while the POWER mode, increasing the reactivity of the engine and steering.
Intelligent Controls
The automatic transmission also has an operating logic called Super Intelligent Electronically Controlled Transmission, Super ECT which allows you to have more control in different driving conditions (acceleration, braking, running at full load) and adapt the ratio accordingly to have efficiency in terms of fuel consumption. The suspension system with swing arms at the front and leaf springs at the rear with double shock absorbers has been updated, but it has been updated to combine the off-road capabilities required for a four-wheel drive vehicle with driving comfort and the stability of an SUV. According to data provided by the House, the Hilux is "three times stronger than its predecessor". Toyota engineers then resorted to massive doses of electronics to improve dynamic control and braking capabilities. while gearbox and all-wheel drive also efficient in demanding use. There is still some doubt about the road holding, sometimes below expectations with the rear too light. During the off-road one should note that the torsion rigidity of the Hilux version, the handling, and 4 × 4 qualities of the pickup.
Series of Innovations
A series of technical modifications like a different longer crossbow, a different suspension attachment, and a wider underbody have helped make the Hilux more maneuverable both on the road and off-road. The intervention of the stability and traction controls is always appropriate, precise and also features Active Traction Control which acts on the pressure of the brake fluid and on the delivery of the engine torque, to distribute it to the four drive wheels in an appropriate manner. Particularly interesting is the Toyota Pich & Bounce Control function, able to adjust the torque output according to the shape of the road surface (or dirt) that is faced, so as to reduce the pitch and rebound of the vehicle. While, its standard equipment includes driver's knee airbags, deactivate passenger airbags, head airbags, cruise controls, automatic front disconnect differential (freewheel) and lockable rear differential. The Hilux under test is the top of the Executive range, which offers leather seats, LED headlights, automatic air conditioning, radio with CD player, Mp3, Aux and USB ports, and Bluetooth connection, electrically folding mirrors, fractional rear seat (Double Cab), rearview camera and tinted rear windows.
