The metal fraction is instead destined for the melting furnace, to obtain new "ingots" for the industry. As for nickel and lithium, their disposal is very complicated, but it's worth it because these are very precious components. Nickel and cobalt, to give another example, are difficult to recover, due to the fact that electric cars are present in the form of salts. They, therefore, need a refined technology to separate them from metals. In short, recycling electric car batteries is relatively expensive and relatively complicated, but it can be done.
