The self-locking spring is applied to the threaded shaft. If the parking brake is pulled and the threaded shaft has reached the locking position, the return force attempts to rotate the threaded shaft in the opposite direction. Through this rotation movement in the opposite direction, the first turns of the self-closing spring are pressed outwards, against the surrounding body.

The Brake Protection

In this way, the threaded shaft is kept in its position and the return forces are contrasted by the self-locking spring. When the parking brake is released, the threaded shaft is driven by the electric motor and drags the opposite end of the self-locking spring. In this way, the spring is rotated inwards and detached from the body. To protect the brake drums and the brake pads from corrosion and to always achieve an optimum effect, the system occasionally activates the brakes. This happens almost once a month. The system brakes automatically and without the driver noticing.
